Lack of Privacy
When you are using Facebook and even when you are not using Facebook, for example on a shopping website which tracks your IP address and sends it to Facebook which can be used to log information on you even though you are not even using the platform. This is a breach of basic privacy and can be dangerous as it removes any sort of privacy from people.

Hacking
Hackers are people who gain unauthorized access to information, Facebook makes hacker’s jobs easier as once they find your password they have access to all of your information and have the ability to use your account to pretend to be you. This is a serious issue as the average person does not have a secure enough password, this leads to many incidents where hackers have gained access to their information which the hacker posted online for their entertainment or sold to a third party which in turn can use this information for malpractice. Facebook has taken measures to prevent hacking such as two factor authentication however it is still on the user to secure their password which the average person does not understand the importance of.

Scammers
Scammers has been a major issue in the past when people were not as educated in cyber security, in the recent age cyber security is taught at schools in low year levels to protect people from losing money or personal information. Scammers are very prominent on facebook, they redirect the user from facebook onto a third party site with promises of benefit to the user where they then scam the user.

Illicit material
Facebook has few rules that prevent extreme illicit material from being posted on their website however most illicit material such as gore, pornography and extremely violent footage is allowed on the website. The only requirement to access these pages is for your account to be labeled as 18+ which is extremely easy to fake for an underage user which leads to exposure to illicit material at a young age.

Cyber Bullying
Facebook’s main issue is cyber bullying as there are no rules that prevent users from verbally abusing other people on the platform and this leads to very unhealthy social interaction for people who undergo cyber bullying which can cause depression and lack of motivation. Facebook has added a block feature to the site which allows a user to block another person from seeing their account or posting on their feed however this is not effective when the message has already been sent in the first place and the person has to undergo the original verbal abuse.
